First off painting the plywood for winter this needs to be done if we want to keep our courts for more than 1 or 2 years.

Second; build the other court, Grant said it should be fairly inexpensive and i think we have most of the money.

Third; League night we will soon have 2 courts so Tiff and myself have talked to a few of you and had good feedback.
My opinion is to have it on a regular polo night that way its easy for everyone to come out (family men). And we can use one court as a pick-up court and one as league court.
Some people said they would like to do it on a off night because they want to play a third day. I want to play on a third as well but not everyone has a flexible schedule. So we can just play pick up on a third I don't see a huge turnout though.

I agree with all of this.

1) for the painting of the courts, this is a must... BUT I'm not sure how I feel about the "leftover paint" idea of people bringing random unused paint to do it. Cosmetically, who knows what it will turn out looking like, and then there's the issue of having incompatible paints layering on top of each other. This could cause issues if we have a bunch of different brands, finishes, bases, etc.

Of course, it could look cool and have interesting results, but the part of me that feels nothing but gratitude towards the city for allowing us almost free reign over the Coolavin courts up to this point says that we should try to make it look as good as it can... a nicely done paint job would make the courts look even more permanent and legit, and that could go a long way in making sure the city continues to allow us to play there.

2) I've got a good amount of money to throw into the pool for the wood for the other courts. We definitely need to get those other boards up soon!

3) I'm all for the league nights!!!

what if we held another 2 on 2 tournament on a weekend day and invite cities that are nearby; Louisville, Cincy, Dayton, Indy, etc? We can make it known that we are holding the tournament to try to raise funds to either paint the courts, build the other walls, or both. We still have a bunch of shirts left over from the Midwests too.

It doesn't have to be 2 on 2, but I thought the last one was really fun and 2 on 2 seems to level the playing field a bit and give the opportunity for upsets with fast-breaks and all that...

How do we feel about pursuing a sponsorship to buy the paint? That would probably require painting it a color associated with the organization and potentially branding it with stickers or stencils to some degree.

Isn't there a Speedo factory in Paris KY?
You should hit them up for official team uniforms.

Boards painted first right? The stencil idea is cool since we could give many sponsors the opportunity to hang their logo on the boards. I bet we could get 10 local businesses to pitch in $50 or $100 each, especially if we made the stencil. Say $50 for one year and $100 for two. Sidebar, 3rd St, CD Central, Sqecial, Green Lantern, BAFCO, and all of the bar, pizza, and bike shops of course.

Also a tourney and an alleycat would be rad to throw as well to raise money.

Does anyone have time to put together a "sponsor" packet? This would make it easier to talk to more businesses therefor providing more companies wanting to help us in some way.

-Just popped into my head we could even sell the cone space to someone like windstream, get those tall green cones.

-Sell high visible spots like the 2 outside corners for more.

Just a few ideas.

i think we should just get the paint on the boards if we have the money now. we can worry about sponsors later if we decide we need to raise more money to help out with 2nd courts, tournys, etc.

if the BAFCO thing works out, then that money will just go to replenish the polo fund, and we can stencil on their logos on top of whatever we've painted.
