Some folks know more about this than I do but it seems like the Hockey league is no longer. Might be an opportunity to get some of the pads and boards.

So, Brad and I met with Rudy yesterday and he confirmed to us that the Lexington Roller Hockey league, organization, whatever you call it has dissolved.

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but Rudy mentioned that there may be some remote possibility that Parks & Rec may want (or need) to find something to do with the existing dasher boards and other stuff out there and that he would look into the possibility of dismantling that stuff for us to use out at Coolavin. This was all mentioned in a flurry of ideas that we were all throwing around, so I wouldn't expect this to happen anytime soon, if at all.

However, Rudy did suggest in not so many words that if we needed to use those courts for any sort of spill-over play there would be no one to stop us from going out there and playing on those courts. Might be a good option for when we host a lot of players and there is too much going on at Coolavin for even the two courts we have there.

I have a feeling that even though the organization for roller hockey doesn't exist, there is probably more than a few die-hard players who will still want to use those facilities to play on occasionally, so that is why I am not going to get caught up in any grand ideas for having those dashers relocated to Coolavin. If it happens, it happens and we'll work with it, but if not, we still have two kick-ass courts that are ideal for us at Coolavin.

Awesome! I think the courts at Coolivan are great...

I had a meeting with some folks the other night and was told that one of the cops in the area said that the polo courts is one of the best things that have happened over there in a long time. Just having us out there doing our thing has really helped.

Another note, I spoke with another person about the whole liability thing that we have dealt with in the past around tournament play and they said we just need to call it and exhibition... that is what has allowed us to play at bike lex and such.
