48 hole are good for up and down punishment. but as for sidewall strength i think 36 are better. the more holes you put in the rim itself the weaker it will be on side impacts. i think 36 hole is a perfect polo medium.

I totally agree with you on this one, Jared. I think a strong, quality 36 hole rim with some sturdy spokes and some wheel covers is probably all you need for laterally bombproof polo wheels.

But I also remember about a year ago, when the only 48 hole hubs you could find were either old BMX hubs that had to be spaced out, or expensive tandem or boutique hubs.

kinda thinking 48 could really be an improvement due to the increased wheel diameter. while it's generally overkill on BMX wheels, I can see an advantage with 26's or 700's
