This should be fun to watch if you're not racing it, and yeah, they need folks to help out. See details below.

Another chance to get another free t-shirt!

Quote:
In conjunction with the Bike Lexington Weekend festivities, the McDonald’s Cycling Team is hosting the Avenue of Champions Prologue Time Trial on Friday, May 16th on Euclid Avenue. Racing will start at 7pm with riders starting about every 30 seconds. The start/finish line will be in front of UK’s Memorial Coliseum parking lot where there will also be a family-friendly festival area. The city of Lexington has been kind enough to allow street closure on Euclid for the race, but we are in great need of MANY volunteers (around 40-50). Most of these volunteers will be manning street closures, making sure vehicles and pedestrians do not enter the course. Intersections will have barricades or caution tape blocking them, but we all know people like to go around such barriers for whatever reason. So, if you are available Friday, May 16th from 5:45pm to about 9pm (or when the last rider finishes), please email your name and contact information to: mcdonaldsprologuevolunteers@lycos.com. Also, if you are planning to race, please think about asking a friend or family member to volunteer and help keep your race course safe. If you can volunteer, but for only part of that time, email anyway and we will be happy to utilize you somewhere!

Proceeds from this race will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Thanks!
Melissa Wayland

word on the street is the Lexrides bike tailgating / staging area will be the bank parking lot on the corner of Euclid & Lafayette (diagonally across from Kroger).

I think we should try our best to recreate the rowdy atmosphere of the Rupp parking lot races last year. Who's bringing the hay bales and cowbells?

im pretty sure you can ride fixed in the timetrial, since you are on your own. you probably just have to have a brake or something.

I've been laid up with a broken foot for the past 5 weeks, I'll be riding simply because I've missed out on over a month of perfect biking weather and soccer. I think my biggest challenge is going to be keeping the bike straight since my left leg is significantly larger than my right Laughing

Will there be free Mc Diesel on hand? Are they gonna make us wear helmets too? Brakes? I'd better call up my posse to cork up Euclid for me so I can be real safe like. Maybe I'll just strip down and grease up cause I ain't got no fancy kit.

Maybe we can screen a shirt that lex rides folks can put on over their kit or something like that?

The cutters shirts sure were fun last year.
